Mr Poppin Basement Improvement Cowchip/AL Book 4 edition by Norman Morrison Mystery Thriller Suspense eBooks

Good old fashioned Southern Crime Fiction by Norman E. Morrison set near the city of Cowchip Alabama. See also the other Cowchip/AL related works.
Clang! A most satisfying, if short ringing sound, unlike a bell, but every bit as rousing. The nerves of the hand and wrist perceived the minute vibrations of the instrument even as the music quickly melted. It was the sound of cast iron whacking a melon, only it was a large frying pan and it wasn't a melon at all.
Mr. Poppin's Basement Improvement is a murder mystery set near Cowchip/AL in the rural Poppin Hill community. It's the culmination of a long line of events that began shortly after the Civil War and ended just yesterday with a frying pan being deposited inside a man's head.
It's fairly obvious from the outset who the culprit is. The question, is... will he be caught, and how?
Note Rated PG. No naughty stuff. Just good clean murder by pan.
This is an excellent read for at least four reasons
First, it's an entertaining mystery.
Second, for southerners, it speaks their language.
Third, for yankees and other foreigners who know the south only through redneck jokes, it gives a true and rare window into how things actually are, more or less.
And fourthly, of course, it is written by Norman E. Morrison in his unique style which more and more people around the world are coming to crave.
This is a mystery tale in the Cowchip/AL series of uniquely written books, always a quarter turn out from what you expect.

I sat down and read this book from beginning to end. Five stars! I think I've only read two other murder mysteries in my life and didn't really think much of them. But I've got to say Mr. Poppin's Basement Improvement was well worth the read.Norman Morrison created characters that are well-developed, slightly scary, mostly crazy. I found myself feeling like I really knew these southern folks, which was good and bad--good because they seemed real, and bad because they seemed really creepy! Morrison's sense of humor made the whole story really work.
Old Mr. Poppins himself is a character and a half. If you read the book, you'll get my meaning. You want to feel sorry for him because of his lonely existence, yet he's so extreme in his take on life that you don't really want to touch him with a ten-foot pole. And Bump is the ever-present, looking-over-your-shoulder, money-hungry landlord that's got his finger in everything.
This story is set in Alabama, and even though I've never had to pleasure of being in the South except for a layover, I experienced the southern lifestyle and countryside through this book. It made me want to go South and check out such a vibrant area of our US history. I'd just try to steer clear of certain characters.
I highly recommend this book! Sit down, enjoy the suspense, and have a laugh!

Mr Poppin Basement Improvement Cowchip/AL Book 4 edition by Norman Morrison Mystery Thriller Suspense eBooks Reviews
Norm has done it again! Take one crusty old curmudgeon home-owner turned tenant, add a carnivorous house-mate, a couple of cops desperately seeking promotion, and a wealthy African American landlord, mix well and - mayhem, southern-style, ensues! This book, though somewhat dark, evokes the prides and prejudices of the deep south, turning the expected social order on it's head a little while telling a good story. It's an easy read, written in conversational style allowing the reader to climb inside the story with the characters. Go buy it!
I really liked this book. An easy read that holds your interest from start to finish. Mr Poppins makes me smile every time I think about him. He is an adorable, mean, unreasonable bigot. He is not part of this century, but he does love his home and the ways of the old south. You will also love him if you read with the tongue in check attitude that is part of his charm.
Norm has done a great job showing the good and bad of Mr. Poppins and the other characters.
Buy this book and have a nice afternoon.
